Product Introduction

Low Temperature Cable Features

For high frequency signals, Avantgarde offers a variety of coaxial cables: ultra-compact coaxial cables and semi-rigid coaxial cables with stainless steel center conductors. We also offer the rugged CryoCable™.

Subminiature Coaxial Cables - Type SC and Type SS

Subminiature coaxial cables are used when a robust and flexible cable is required. When low conductor resistance is a priority, Type SC is recommended, and Type SC and Type SS are mechanically flexible due to their braided construction. Type SS is recommended when shielding and low heat loss are both important. See technical specifications for SS, SC, and SR types.

Features

Very flexible

Long bending life

Two configurations are available:

SC - stranded copper conductors

SS - 304 stainless steel stranded wire

Semi-Rigid Coaxial Cable - Type SR

Features

Easily bent, coiled, stripped, machined, soldered or joined without compromising performance

Solid center conductor provides a good geometric surface for transmission

Low Standing Wave Ratio (SWR) with dielectrics controlled within tight tolerances

Low thermal conductivity (approximately 0.4 W/(m-K) at 4.2 K)9

Matched to minimize reflected power loss

Provides shielded isolation with little or no extraneous signal pickup

Tubular outer conductor provides small size and large conductor integrity; stainless steel jacket can be soldered directly to the board

37 AWG, silver-plated brazed steel center conductor

CryoCable™ - Type CRYC

CryoCable™ is a ruggedized 4-wire cable suitable for cryogenic environments to room temperature. The cable is designed around a 32 AWG (203 µm) diameter superconducting wire and consists of an NbTi core (128 µm diameter) with a Cu-10% Ni jacket.

Features

Rugged: The NbTi core is strong and fatigue-resistant, and the 304 stainless steel cable outer braid adds significant strength and compression resistance.

Low heat leakage due to all-metal alloy and Teflon® construction

Solderable: Copper-nickel wire surface is easily soldered with traditional rosin fluxes

Low-temperature compatible: all Teflon® (PFA) insulation is heat strippable for easy preparation
